Request made to a health plan to reconsider coverage of a health care service that the health plan has not interpreted to be a covered benefit.

Group Health Plan

A health plan that provides health coverage to employees and their families, and is supported by an employer or employee organization.

GMS

Gastric bypass surgery is a weight-loss procedure for individuals who are very overweight. The surgery reduces the size of the stomach and bypasses a portion of the intestines. This weight loss can help improve various weight-related health issues.

Gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis is an infection of the stomach or intestines, often referred to as a tummy bug, stomach flu, or gastric flu. It causes symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. While gastroenteritis is typically mild and resolves on its own within a few days, it can be more serious for some individuals.

Gastroscopy

A gastroscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of the oesophagus (the tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach), the stomach, and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). It is often performed to identify the cause of specific symptoms and can also be used to administer certain treatments.

Gender transition

The sex assigned to you at birth may not align with the gender you identify with. While this mismatch isn't inherently problematic, feeling uncomfortable or distressed about it is valid. This experience is sometimes referred to as gender dysphoria or gender incongruence. Seeking help and support is crucial if you're struggling with these feelings.
