Network

Groups of physicians, hospitals and other health care providers working with the health plan to offer care at negotiated rates.

Network Provider

Physicians, hospitals or other providers of medical services that have agreed to participate in a network, to offer their services at negotiated rates, and to meet other negotiated contractual provisions. Also called "participating provider.".

Noncancellable Policy

A policy that guarantees you can receive insurance, as long as you pay the premium. It is also called a guaranteed renewable policy.

Nonrenewable

An insurance policy that cannot be renewed or continued after its expiration date.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) occurs when fat accumulates in the liver cells. It is highly prevalent, with most individuals experiencing a mild form that typically does not lead to long-term complications. However, some individuals with NAFLD may progress to more severe liver damage. Importantly, NAFLD is not caused by excessive alcohol consumption.

Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

Nose reshaping, also known as rhinoplasty or a nose job, is a surgical procedure aimed at altering the size or shape of the nose. This operation is commonly sought by individuals who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their nose or wish to correct its shape following an injury.

Radiofrequency denervation, also known as facet joint denervation, is a treatment for neck or back pain originating from the facet joints. These small pairs of joints connect the bones in the spine together.

Rectal prolapse

A rectal prolapse occurs when the end of the bowel, known as the rectum, protrudes through the anus, forming a lump. Initially, this may only happen during bowel movements, but over time, it can become a constant presence. Rectal prolapse can cause discomfort and disrupt daily activities. While it may feel embarrassing, it's crucial to consult a GP if you suspect you have one.

Repetitive strain injury (RSI)

Repetitive strain injury (RSI) refers to a condition characterised by aches and pains in the body resulting from repetitive movements. Primarily affecting the arms, shoulders, wrists, and hands, RSI is also known as overuse syndrome or upper limb disorder.

Retinal detachment

Retinal detachment occurs when the retina, a light-sensitive layer in the eye, detaches from the back of the eyeball. This condition can lead to permanent vision impairment, necessitating immediate expert evaluation. It's vital to promptly schedule an appointment with an optician. If unavailable within 24 hours, locate the nearest eye casualty or visit the hospital's accident and emergency department.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic condition characterised by pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints, commonly affecting the hands and feet. However, it can impact any joint and various parts of the body.

Rotator cuff injury

A rotator cuff injury involves damage to the muscles and tendons in the shoulder, often leading to shoulder pain, particularly common among older and active individuals. Treatment options for rotator cuff injuries include both surgical and non-surgical approaches.
