Talking therapies

Struggling with a mental health condition? Talking therapies offer a safe space to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with a trained therapist. These sessions can help you understand underlying issues, learn coping skills, and improve your mental health. Talking therapies are often used alongside medication to address various mental health conditions effectively.

Tennis elbow

Does overuse cause outer elbow and forearm pain? Tennis elbow, a common condition, results from repetitive motions like typing or playing racquet sports. While rest is key, pain relievers can also help manage discomfort. Most cases improve with conservative treatment.

Testicular cancer

Testicular cancer is highly treatable, but early detection is crucial. Be aware of your body and don't ignore changes in your testicles. Schedule a doctor's visit if you notice anything unusual – a lump, swelling, or pain. Early action can lead to a full recovery.

Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the perception of sound in your ears without an external source. People often describe it as ringing, hissing, clicking, or buzzing. While various conditions can cause tinnitus, the reason remains unknown for some. It's a surprisingly common issue, affecting one in six people occasionally and one in 50 experiencing a more severe form.

Tonsil and adenoid removal

Tonsils and adenoids, located at the back of your throat, are lymphoid tissues that help fight infection. Frequent tonsillitis (inflamed tonsils) can lead to a tonsillectomy (surgical removal). Similarly, enlarged adenoids causing sleep apnea, ear infections, or other problems may necessitate adenoidectomy (adenoid removal). In many cases, both procedures are combined in an adenotonsillectomy.

Tonsillitis

Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, two lumps of tissue at the back of your throat that help fight infection. This condition, typically caused by a viral or bacterial infection, can cause a sore throat, swollen and possibly red tonsils, and pain when swallowing.

Transoesophageal echocardiogram

For a more precise assessment of your heart, a transoesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) might be used. This advanced ultrasound technique uses a probe inserted through your esophagus, located behind your heart, to obtain detailed real-time images of your heart valves, chambers, and blood flow.

Transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT)

TURBT, or transurethral resection of a bladder tumor, is a common procedure used to both diagnose and treat cases of early bladder cancer. It involves inserting a specialised instrument through the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body) to remove and analyse a suspicious growth within the bladder.

Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)

TURP, or transurethral resection of the prostate, is a common surgical option for treating symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can cause urinary problems. During TURP, a thin, lighted instrument is inserted through the urethra to remove excess prostate tissue, alleviating BPH symptoms and improving urinary flow.

Treatment options for knee pain

Facing knee pain? You're not alone. Many options exist for diagnosis and treatment. This information provides an overview to help you and your doctor determine the most suitable course of action.

Trigger finger

Trigger finger, or stenosing tendinopathy, is a condition affecting the tendons in your finger or thumb. It causes a catching or locking sensation when bending the digit. While some cases improve naturally within weeks, treatment options like pain relievers, splinting for immobilisations, steroid injections for inflammation reduction, and surgery for severe cases are available to manage symptoms and regain full function.

Tummy tuck

A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a body contouring surgery that addresses loose skin and stubborn fat deposits in the abdominal area, often a result of significant weight loss, pregnancy, or aging. The procedure removes excess skin and fat, and may also involve tightening the underlying abdominal muscles to create a flatter, more toned appearance. Liposuction can be performed in conjunction with a tummy tuck for targeted fat removal and a more sculpted result.
